General
Can I order samples?
We encourage you to order samples to see how the frame looks in your bathroom. Samples can be ordered here.
How does the product work?
The frame attaches directly to the existing, wall-mounted mirror so you don’t need space around it for the frame. It is also why it works even if your mirror sits on a backsplash or runs into a wall.
The frame tapes onto the glass with professional grade, double-side 3M tape – guaranteed to last in the bath. If your mirror is attached with clips, no worries! There is a recess in the back of the frame that allows it to fit over the clips. No other frame or store-bought trim has this!
How does the frame attach to the mirror?
The frame is pre-taped with professional-grade 3M tape and guaranteed to last in the bath.
What is the frame made of?
The vast majority of our frames are made of MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), an environmentally-responsible, strong, non-warping wood-base. They are then finished with a moisture-impervious decorative wrap and seal. There are a few select styles with a base composite of wood. Each product page provides the exact base composite of that style.
Will I see the mirror edge under the frame from the side?
Where there is space we extend the frame beyond the mirror up to 5/8 inch – to create the illusion that the raw edge of the mirror is covered. If your mirror has zero clearance on a side then we do not extend the frame on that side and the frame will be flush with the edge of the mirror. Please note - our frames DO NOT wrap around the edge of the mirror.
Why should I buy a MirrorMate frame instead of a complete framed mirror?
MirrorMate frames are less expensive than most new framed mirrors and they don’t require that you remove your existing mirror. This is especially good news if your existing mirrors are glued to the wall, since removing them may damage the wall, and if they break, may cause injury. The additional time and cost of repairing the wall, plus disposal of mirrors into a landfill make MirrorMate frames even more cost-effective. MirrorMate frames are easy to install, requiring no special tools or skills. They work with any rectangular-shaped mirror and are available in a variety of styles to fit any décor.
Do you sell mirrors too?
No. Our frames are for pre-existing, wall-mounted mirrors.
Will it work for me? Yes!
Will it work if my mirror rests on a backsplash or is next to a wall?
Yes. MirrorMate frames are designed to be used with most plate glass mirrors, even if the mirror sits on a backsplash or runs into a wall. No space is needed around your mirror because the frame attaches directly to the glass.
I have large plastic clips. How does it work with the clips holding my mirror?
MirrorMate frames are specially designed to cover and hide the clips and channels holding your existing mirror. The patented frames work seamlessly with almost all clips, with the exception of large plastic clips that are both 1” wide and 1” long. In this case, you will indicate this when placing an order and we will send replacement clips. If your clips are plastic, but smaller than 1” you should not need replacement clips.
Will MirrorMate frames work on beveled mirrors?
Will your product work on medicine cabinets?
Most likely! Review our Medicine Cabinet page or call us with any questions.
I have two (or three!) mirrors that meet at a corner. Can they be framed?
Absolutely! We refer to these as bi-fold and tri-fold mirrors. Contact customer service at info@mirrormate.com for details on ordering.
What if I need a frame for a mirror longer than 100 inches?
Some frames can be made to accommodate mirrors up to 142 inches. On these styles there will be a diagonal middle splice joining two pieces. See chart for details on which frame styles can accommodate longer lengths. Frames for mirrors 90" or longer will incur additional fees.
Special cases
What if my mirror is extra large (over 100” long)?
Some of our frame styles can be made to accommodate mirrors up to 142 inches. On these styles there will be a splice - a diagonal cut in the middle of the frame where two pieces will be joined to create one long frame piece. See this chart for details on which frame styles can accommodate. Frames for mirrors 90" or longer will incur an additional fee for shipping and handling. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to email or call us at info@mirrormate.com or 866-304-6283.
Can I frame a beveled mirror?
Yes! As long as your bevel is 1” wide or less, our frames will work. We recommend selecting a frame that is 3” wide or more for beveled mirrors. Shop 3” wide frames here and over 3” wide here. On the special instructions section of the order process, please write: MY MIRROR IS BEVELED.
Can I frame a medicine cabinet?
Yes! You Can Frame That Medicine Cabinet (well, most of them, anyway)! If you have a surface mounted (flush against the wall) medicine cabinet you’re interested in framing, just give us a call at 866-304-6283 and we’ll walk you through the order process.
Can I frame a mirror with outlets/rosettes?
Probably! The solution for this issue depends on where the outlets or rosettes are located and therefore requires a more personalized approach. If your mirror has an outlet or rosettes inside the glass, please give us a call at 866-304-6283 and we’ll work through it. If you can, please send a picture of the mirror to info@mirrormate.com.
Can I frame a bi-fold or tri-fold mirror?
Yes! When framed these large mirrors look stunning. For installation, you’ll need to do some additional cuts to abut the frames as they turn around the interior corners. Because of the additional work, our online ordering process will not work for these types of mirror frames, and they will need to be ordered manually by submitting the below forms via email to info@mirrormate.com. Please use the forms below to send us your measurements. We will then call you back to confirm your information and give you pricing.
What if I have a towel bar, overhanging lights, or medicine cabinet on an adjacent wall?
We can usually make this work! But these potential obstacles can make installation a bit trickier. In these instances, we recommend ordering samples first. Once you receive your samples, slide the sample onto the surface of your mirror with the recess on the back side toward the outside of the mirror. Then, open that cabinet door, or see if the overhanging lights hit any part of the frame sample. If it looks like the frame will fit, but the obstacles will prevent a straight-on installation, call us at 866-304-6283. We have plenty of tips!

Product care
Will it last in the bathroom?
MirrorMate’s high-quality frames are durability tested and made for the bath. They’ve been used for more than 2 decades, even in such high traffic settings as hotels – and have stood the test of time.
We’re so sure of it, we guaranteed the frames to last. See our guarantee for details.
How do I maintain my frame?
All it takes to keep your frame looking good as new is simple dusting, or a light wiping with a cloth or paper towel that’s slightly dampened with water. Easy as that!
Please keep in mind, the frames are made of wood and wood-based materials, like your bathroom vanity or other furniture. Therefore, we recommend avoiding the use of harsh chemicals and excessive scrubbing. It’s also best to spray glass cleaner directly on a cloth and then wipe down the mirror, instead of spraying the mirror directly. Frames that exhibit damage from harsh cleaners or scrubbing will not be covered by our guarantee.
What if I’m repainting my bathroom?
Repainting the bathroom? We recommend painting prior to the frame installation. If you’re painting after your frame is up, simply use a steady hand around the frame. You’ll want to avoid painter’s tape on the frame as it can remove the finish.
How do I remove the frame?
To remove your frame from the mirror, please follow the instructions below:
- Grab a friend to assist with removal. They will hold the frame and support it while you detach the frame from the mirror.
- To detach the frame, run dental floss or fishing line between the frame and mirror. This will split the foam tape and allow the frame to separate from the mirror.
- Once the frame is removed, clean the remaining tape from the mirror with a scrapper or razor blade.
- Finish removing any residue with a Goo Be Gone.
How do I re-install a removed frame?
To re-install a frame that has been removed:
- Use a putty knife, if necessary, to remove any old tape residue from the back of the frame.
- Call customer service at 866-304-6283 to request our professional-grade tape and placement blocks to use for re-application.
- Re-apply the new tape on the back of the frame as close to where the old tape was.
- Re-install the frame per the installation instructions.

Measurement
Will it work if my mirror rests on a backsplash or is next to a wall?
Yes. MirrorMate frames are designed to be used with most plate glass mirrors, even if the mirror sits on a backsplash or runs into a wall. No space is needed around your mirror because the frame attaches directly to the glass.
What is the difference between channels and clips?
A channel is a j-shaped piece of metal that usually runs the width of the mirror on the bottom and the mirror sits in this channel. Clips come in a variety of styles. You will usually find 2-3 clips on the top and bottom of your mirror. Occasionally they will be on the side. It is best to remove clips from the side of your mirror. The clips can be metal or plastic. MirrorMate frames are designed to cover both the channel and the clips.
How thick are the frames? I have a faucet/light fixture/medicine cabinet close to my mirror.
Each product page provides dimensions of the frame. we offer samples if you’d like to see how the frame fits in your space.
Do you include clips or metal strip in the measurement of the mirror size?
Include the strip in your measurement as the mirror is actually sitting in it. Do not include the clips in your measurement.
Do I round up or down if a measurement is between 1/8th of an inch?
You should round down to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
Installation
Is the frame removable?
Yes. If the frame must come off we recommend using dental floss or fishing line to separate the foam tape from the mirror. We suggest you use Goof-Off, or a citrus-based cleaner to remove the rest of the tape from the surface of the mirror. Please understand that we cannot guarantee that your frame would be usable should you choose to remove it. E-mail info@mirrormate.com for removal instructions. It will be necessary for us to send you replacement tape and placement corners.
How can I install a frame if there is a medicine cabinet or towel bar in the way?
If a towel bar, medicine chest or any other obstacle protrudes near the mirror, it may be necessary to remove, install the frame and reattach. Please call us for further information we would be delighted to assist.
